Opera Unite – Check out this video

June 16th, 2009

Opera’s new browser has a unique capability of turning your browser to server. Using opera unite one can share photos, files, videos etc. One can create his own cloud and share with his friends/family. This was required so badly when there are so many “me too” sites for sharing photos, videos and so on. It also allows to host your website. Opera unite will allow user to share your cloud with your known contacts. This will eliminate the need of 3rd party web server and uploading photos to 5 different web sites.

I have installed this build and have used it’s file sharing service to share a file (opera unite installation file). Check it out here

Story of WordPerfect – Change is the rule of life

April 24th, 2009

Seth Godin wrote a post about – Pick Anything- Calculus of Change and few days back I read a book (story) Almost Perfect (you can read the book online for free) about WordPerfect authored by one of the executive of  the maker of software. The book describes the rise and fall of WordPerfect.

As mentioned by Seth Godin change in Operating System brought Microsoft Word into limelight and once ubiquitous WordPerfect is almost vanished now. Change is the rule of life where everyone participates and molds themselves. We can see change around us all the time – the way people are embracing Twitter, Facebook, Friendfeed, Blogs  is one of the example of how these tools are changing the way people disseminate news and information.

That’s why we saw influx of web 2.0 start ups in 2006-2008 where every other entrepreneur was selling/marketting their ideas (no matter how crappy was it). For example if we consider 100 web 2.0 application then 15 survives and 5 of them excel and become maas’s product and that brings the change which we adopt by using these products.

There is inherent Power in Change and one has to capitalize the moment to make use of the Change.
